George Makrides is a researcher at the PHAETHON Centre of Excellence of the University of Cyprus. His research interests lie in the energy field, specifically in the areas of renewable energy sources, battery energy storage systems, and energy digitalisation.
He received his BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Queen Mary University of London (First Class Honours), his MPhil in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, and his PhD from the University of Cyprus in the field of renewable energy.
Since 2005, he has been working as a researcher at the University of Cyprus, has published over 250 papers in international journals, and his research has been recognised with numerous awards in research and innovation.
Finally, he has successfully coordinated and participated in several national, European, and industry-funded research projects.
