Dr. Marinos Sotiriou is the founder of the private hospital American Medical Center which offers high-quality medical services. He is also the Head of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery. Dr. Sotiriou holds a medical degree from the University of Cologne in Germany and a PhD from the University of Zurich in Switzerland. He completed his surgical and cardiothoracic training at State University of New York at Stony Brook, Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He is licensed to practice medicine both in Cyprus and in Tennessee, USA. He holds certifications from the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Sotiriou has numerous publications in medical journals and has presented at international medical conferences. Throughout his career, he has been an active member of several professional organizations, including the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery as well as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is also the founder and first president of the European Resuscitation Council Cyprus Chapter and currently serves as president of the Cyprus Thoracic Surgery Society. Dr. Sotiriou has held an academic position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Tennessee, USA.
