George Karantonis is a Partner at Metavallon, a venture capital management company with approximately €75 million in assets under management. Metavallon specializes in funding early-stage companies operating at the forefront of technological innovation. The firm has received investments from the European Investment Fund, the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments, and a range of distinguished institutional and private investors, including successful entrepreneurs. George holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Athens, an M.Sc. in Exploration Geophysics from the University of Leeds, and an MBA from ALBA Graduate Business School. He worked for several years as a business consultant, helping numerous Greek SMEs secure funding through relevant Greek and European financial instruments. He later held senior executive roles in leading Greek ICT companies and has professional and managerial experience ranging from startups to publicly listed companies on the Athens Stock Exchange, London AIM, and Nasdaq. In 2012, together with his business partner, he successfully executed a management buy-out, creating the Motivian Group, a trusted provider of integrated IT solutions for banks, telecom operators, and government agencies across Southeast Europe. The company was acquired by the Qualco Group in August 2022.
