STAND UP COMEDIAN, GREECE

 

Giorgos Hatzipavlou has been professionally involved in stand-up comedy since 2007. His first contact with the genre was in 2001 at Comedy Nights, and a few years later, he resigned from the advertising company where he worked as a head copywriter to dedicate himself exclusively to stand-up comedy. He was the first to permanently house stand-up comedy shows in a theater in Greece. In 2014, he created Stand up for U, a comedy institution that supports charitable actions. Besides his solo performances, he has collaborated on shows and tours in Greece with English comedians and comedians from the Comedy Store. Since 2016, he has created the Comedy Club for Kids, the only Greek stand-up comedy show for children aged 6 to 12 years. In 2015, he became the first Greek stand-up comedian to have a solo show broadcast on Greek television (“Things Are Tough” – Alpha TV). In November 2017, October 2019, and February 2024, he conducted the largest tours of Greek-language stand-up comedy outside Greece, with sold-out shows in London, Manchester, Dubai, Ed[1]inburgh, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Berlin, Stuttgart, Munich, Brussels, Oslo, Vienna, Zurich, Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Malta, The Hague, Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos, Cologne, Geneva, Bristol, Birmingham, and Glasgow. He has written and presented satirical shows on television, radio, and the internet. From 2014 to 2023, his artistic base in Athens was the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation. In 2024, he presented the show “The Elephant in the Room” at the Athens Concert Hall.
