Savvas Maliotis is an agroeconomist with expertise in rural development policies and the agrofood sector. Following a fourteen year background experience in the agrofood sector as a grower and a trader, he established in 2004 a consultancy firm with a focus in agribusiness and the rural sector. He possesses extensive consulting experience in the Cypriot agriculture and the rural regions, working both with the local industry and the national/ regional authorities. He has an extensive experience in the EU Common Agricultural Policy, working as an external evaluator (expost, ongoing and exante) of the Cypriot Rural Development Plan, acting as a consultant to the Ministry of Agricultural, Rural Development and the Environment.
Furthermore, he has extensive experience in the field of rural tourism, working as a consultant to regional tourism authorities and private businesses. He works extensively with the local agrodfood producers for managing promotional campaigns, preparing application files for EU quality marks PDO/PGE, for business improvements and general agrofood consultancy services.
In the field of agrifood research he works with national and European projects in the fields of Agriculture, Innovation and Knowledge Systems (AKIS) and agricultural precision systems acting both as a researcher and an innovation broker, especially in the field of precision agriculture and information technology for the agrifood sector.
